Kenneth Wilan is a visual artist based in Northern California, USA. He previously lived in New England; Basel, Switzerland; San Francisco; and New York City.    +   Wilan's formal education includes Kala Art Institute, Berkeley, California; Hunter College, New York City; University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia; and the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey.    +    Wilan counts his travels as a strong influence in his perspective and aesthetics. In addition to the places he has called home, particularly influential places, experiences while visiting and people he met there include Hong Kong, Chiang Mai, Guangzhou, Bangkok, Athens, Paros, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Orvieto, Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Safed, Lisbon, Barcelona, Paris, Budapest, Edinburgh, Quebec City, Santa Fe, Jamaica, Oaxaca, Guadalajara, Los Angeles, Berlin, London and Amsterdam.    +    Work by artists that Wilan continues to come back to with admiration, appreciation and for the sheer pleasure include work by Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian, Keith Haring, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Marcel Duchamp, Edvard Munch, and Jean-Michel Basquait.
